OONA

is a pianist and pump organ player with roots in Kaustinen (born in 1999), whose everyday life has always included folk music. She learned to play the pump organ in her youth within the folk musician community, which eventually led her to pursue professional studies in folk music at the Sibelius Academy. Her vibrant playing style on both piano and pump organ today has been influenced by her studies at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory and numerous diverse productions in which she has been involved. For ten years, Oona has traveled the world with various ensembles, also working as a music educator in different music institutions. Playing together, spreading the Finnish folk music tradition, and participating in the Kaustinen violin playing tradition across generations are important to her, contributing to a cultural chain that has gained recognition globally with its inclusion in UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage list.

As a keyboard player, Oona is known for her involvement in the bands NOOLI, Johanna Juhola Reaktori, Katrillicrew, and Siba Folk Big Band. Additionally, she has occasionally filled in for bands such as Maksetut Viulut, Sami Asp duo, and Tsuumi Sound System.

Composition is one of Oona's strengths – she composes and arranges music across genres. Her musical creations span from folk music and jazz to arrangements for string orchestras and even a musical premiered at the Kaustinen Music High School.
